2D Class Page
This Spring our topic is Dirty Beasts. We will learn about health and hygiene and how this has changed over time. We will compare the lives of Mary Seacole and Florence Nightingale and see how hospitals have changed as a result of their work.
In English we will be writing for a range of audiences and purposes and will write stories, explanations and recounts of things we have done. Phonics will be continue to be taught each day. We have been using a Government approved scheme called Little Wandle which encourages a rigorous approach to teaching Phonics and works alongside the Big Cat reading scheme. In Maths we will be studying place value, multiplication, division, fractions and shape.
It is vitally important to read regularly and in year two we expect children to read at least three times per week and have their planner signed. During lessons we will read numerous texts, take part in class discussions and answer comprehension questions.
Each week children receive a piece of maths and English homework based on the learning that has taken place this week. The homework is set on a Friday and is expected to be handed in on Wednesday morning. Any problems regarding homework please contact a member of staff (2D).
